About Generation X Miami

Generation X is made up of individuals who bring years of expertise and credibility in the promotions industry — and a genuine love for Miami Carnival.

Our story

For Miami Carnival 2002 Caribbean Mardi Gras, we proudly present “Out of This World”. It is a costume and band presentation which explores the mysterious planets of the universe. Music for the parade will be provided by the leading music orchestra in Miami, Leon Coldero & Code 868, and DJ Brother J (direct from Toronto).

Our achievements

  • 1999 — third place in the “large band” category and first prize for best live music on the road. Our Miss Generation X, Selena Silva, won best costume and first place in the Miss Miami Carnival Pageant.
  • 2000 — second place in the “large band” category, first place for “Female Individual of the Year”, first prize for best live music on the road. Our Miss Generation X, Priya Nanco, won best costume and second place in the Miss Miami Carnival Pageant.
  • 2001 — along with the majority of bands, Generation X did not come on the road following the September 11 tragedy.

Generation X owes much of its potential and success to our corporate sponsors and business partners — they are listed on our sponsors page. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please contact us for more information.

Miami Carnival — our stage

The Miami Carnival has been growing every year since its inception eighteen years ago. Each year it is held in October on Columbus Day weekend. In 2002 the Carnival ran on the weekend of October 12th and 13th, with the street parade on Sunday October 13th at Opa-locka Airport starting at 11:00 a.m. See the Miami Carnival information page for the full schedule.

Generation X and “Out of This World” are marketed and promoted to a diverse and far-reaching demographic group through radio, press, direct marketing, our regularly scheduled parties, the parade on Carnival day, and here on the internet.
